Lauren Paylor's BBQ Eats & Drinks
The food Lauren served her guests was a reflection of her surrounding culture. As Lauren explains, "BBQ in D.C. is different from what I have encountered elsewhere. There are many fusion styles here with BBQ that allow individuals to proudly represent their traditions and customs. In addition to incorporating seafood, here folks are roasting whole suckling pigs, whole turkeys, etc.… It's really cool to see the variance."
While still keeping with the overall BBQ theme, Lauren’s drinks were relatable but with a flair only Lauren can execute (well, until now). As Lauren explained, “The inspiration for my cocktails was to create fun twists on beverages that we drink all of the time whether it be at home or at a bar.”
Unlike her boozy drinks that pack a punch, Lauren’s booze-less drinks were great, any time sippers. Her thirst-quenching and refreshing Grove(y) Spritz features OLIPOP’s Ginger Lemon soda, Seedlip Spice and Rhubarb Tea. It was a nice contrast to her second spirit-free beverage, a bright and playful take on the classic ice cream float. Built with OLIPOP’s Strawberry Vanilla soda and lime poured over scoops of Jeni’s strawberry ice cream, it made for a cool and decadent sweet treat.
