For over a decade, Ben and David have shared a vision of a healthier, tastier future. Their quest for a product that could undermine the old guard of soda behemoths led them to OLIPOP: a thoughtfully crafted tonic that found its taste in wholesome, hardworking ingredients instead of spoonfuls of sugar.
Our Research Partners
We've assembled a global team of leading human gut microbiome research pioneers with diverse expertise spanning digestive health, prebiotic structures, model gut systems and gut microbiome-supportive nutritional strategies. We work with them to translate cutting edge research and findings into OLIPOP's product development.
Dr. Stephen Lindemann is an Assistant Professor in the Food Science and Nutrition Science Departments and Faculty Member of the Whistler Center for Carbohydrate Research at Purdue University. His laboratory focuses on how dietary fiber and prebiotic fine structure impacts gut microbiome diversity and function, genomic mechanisms of community polysaccharide fermentation and influence of carbohydrate structure on microbiome-mediated gut health. His research team is partnering with OLIPOP to investigate how the functional OLISMART blend present impacts the human gut microbiome and supports identification of novel prebiotics.
Dr. Robert Britton is a Professor of the Department of Molecular Virology and Microbiology and Member of the Alkek Center of Metagenomics and Microbiome Research at Baylor College of Medicine. His laboratory invented minibioreactor arrays, a relatively high-throughput platform to investigate the functions of human intestinal communities. His research team is partnering with OLIPOP to investigate how the functional OLISMART blend present impacts the human gut microbiome and assess the beneficial effects of these changes.
Dr. Joseph Petrosino is one of the leading researchers on the Human Microbiome and heads our Health Advisory Board. He is currently Professor and Chairman of Molecular Virology and Microbiology at Baylor College of Medicine and Director of the Alkek Centre for Metagenomics and Microbiome Research. As a principal investigator for the Human Microbiome Project, he helped develop standardised clinical sample preparation protocols for sequencing and analysis. His research focuses on the role of the microbiome in diabetes, digestive, metabolic and infant health.
Dr. Walter is a Professor at the School of Microbiology, Department of Medicine, and APC Microbiome Ireland -- University College Cork – National University of Ireland. His expertise lies at the interface of evolutionary ecology of the gut microbiome and human nutrition. More specifically, his research focuses on the evolutionary and ecological processes that have shaped the host-microbiome interrelationship and the translation of basic microbiome science into therapeutic and nutritional strategies. Dr. Walter and his collaborators have pioneered the application of ecological theory to elucidate factors (host genetics, colonization history, dispersal, diet) that shape gut microbiomes and to achieve targeted and more systematic modulations of microbiomes via diet and live microbes. His team has further used a combination of phylogenomics and animal experiments to elucidate the evolution and ecology of intestinal lactobacilli.
Dr. Walter is partnering with OLIPOP to investigate how regular consumption of fiber and prebiotics impact the human gut microbiome and broader health outcomes.
Our Mission
Feed Life
We are large life forms composed of small life forms. If we respect and intelligently nourish the life within us (our microbiome), it will repay us in kind. The same goes for our environment, our neighbors and our world.
Adapt & Improve
We’ve learned a staggering amount about the human microbiome in the last decade, but there’s more to uncover. It’s our mission to adapt and improve our product in correlation with these findings.
Enjoy
Life is too short not to enjoy it, and too long to spoil it. We can have our sweet cravings without sacrificing our health. Soda is a shortcut with no long term benefits. OLIPOP is an off ramp to a healthy and delicious experience.
