How Does OLIPOP Use EcoCart?

As a part of our sustainability journey, we partnered with EcoCart to allow our consumers to make their orders carbon neutral when they checkout.

Using a proprietary algorithm, EcoCart estimates each order's carbon footprint in real-time by examining variables like shipping distance, package weight, and product type. Once the carbon footprint of a given order is calculated, a proportional amount is used to fund carbon offsetting projects, which work to decrease the amount of carbon in the atmosphere. So when you're checking out on our website, you can choose your shipping speed and select EcoCart's carbon-neutral option.

Hold On...What Does Carbon Neutral Mean?

The dictionary defines carbon neutral as zero net release of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, especially through offsetting emissions by planting trees.

Essentially, everything we buy creates carbon emissions in some fashion. Examples include: the literal factory production or development of a product, the energy required to package the item, and the transportation and logistics work of delivering it to your doorstep.

Because being truly "carbon neutral" means removing the same amount of CO2 from the atmosphere as what is emitted, EcoCart heads a number of projects that remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
