Great question! Here’s the simple answer: Prebiotics are what probiotics eat. Probiotics are live bacteria with health benefits, sometimes referred to as ‘good bacteria.’ Our digestive tract is home to many beneficial bacteria, which need food, just like us. That’s where prebiotics come in.

Because we can’t break them down, prebiotics pass through our digestive tract to the large intestine (where most beneficial bacteria reside). There, they’re fermented and broken down by our gut bacteria into useful compounds that support our overall health.

There are two forms of fiber out there: soluble and insoluble. OLIPOP uses soluble fiber that comes in a powder form and dissolves in liquid. OLIPOP’s prebiotic fiber is from a number of different plants. Our 9g Fiber Line (refrigerated) contains Chicory Root, Jerusalem Artichoke, and Cassava Fiber. Our 6g Fiber Line (shelf-stable) contains Guar Fiber, Acacia Fiber, and Cassava Fiber.

It is perfectly normal to see pulp or sediment in OLIPOP products. Our OLIPOP flavors with natural vanilla may contain dark specks due to the vanilla bean used. This is commonly seen in our Cream Soda. Pulp can also be present in certain OLIPOP flavors with natural fruit juices, like our Banana Cream flavor.

OLIPOP is sweetened with a combination of cassava syrup, fruit juice, and stevia. Stevia is a non-nutritive sweetener, which means it tastes sweet but contains zero calories.

We currently have four flavors that contain caffeine from green tea extract: Vintage Cola, Doctor Goodwin, Cherry Cola, and Citrus Rush (formerly Ridge Rush). Vintage Cola, Doctor Goodwin, and Cherry Cola contain 50mg of caffeine per can, while Citrus Rush contains 60mg of caffeine per can. The rest of our flavors are caffeine-free!

OLIPOP does not contain peanuts or tree nuts, but they are present in our production facility. OLIPOP has systems in place to ensure no cross-contamination of allergens occurs. However, those with severe allergies should exercise caution.

While OLIPOP contains 80% less sugar than traditional sodas, managing diabetes is often individualized. For this reason, we recommend checking with your healthcare provider before adding a new treat to your diet.
